Summer Songs

Here in Florida, the first day of summer isn't the celebration that it was growing up in the north. The temperatures have been well above 80 degrees for what seems like eons. Growing up, 80 meant summer was here. Now, 95 is that sign.

Summer to me means having the radio cranking, American Top 40 or whatever radio station played the most songs without commercial interruption. Today, some of the songs that will always remind me of summer. Note that some of them have nothing to do with summer, it's just that they came out during that time frame.

I've been meaning to put these into an iPod playlist, but I haven't gotten around to it yet...

"The Night Chicago Died" - Paper Lace, summer of '74!

I remember riding down Wantagh Parkway to Jones Beach with my cousin, in the back seat of my Aunt's Plymouth Satellite (yes, faster than the speed of light!) singing that song along with the car radio! (AM, of course...probably WABC!)

Wal Mart Your Zone $500.00 Gift Card Contest!

For several months now, I have participated in WalMart 's Beyond Eleven Moms, a collective of bloggers who partner with WalMart to give feedback on products already in stores and ideas about products that the company can offer in their stores. Last month, I was approached to help test out a new product line in the stores. Many retailers offer room decor for youngsters and college students, but affordable furniture, bedding and decor for teens was hard to find. Enter Your Zone ! Webmaster Alex speaks Anonymously

**Please note, this post was written in 2008, over 7 years ago.  This is not current, but remains to detail the DISboards bannings.** The other day, I wrote of my banning from the Disboards, a site I belonged to for six years. I was banned for participating in another site, as were approximately 35 others. The list will be posted further in this entry. If you skip this post because it doesn't mean anything except to the participants, I don't mind. This is mainly out there for the hundreds (over 7,500 now!**) of Google searches that have been directed to my blog since the bannings. Lord knows, anytime anyone asks a question on the Disboards, it'll be poofed faster than you can say "delete." Curiously, I received an anonymous comment that rambled on and on.
